WHO IS DOUG HOLROYD?
NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
I am Doug Holroyd, running for the York County, VA Board of Supervisors for District 1 (Upper York). Since my wife, Jill, and I made Upper York our forever home, I have been an active participant in the community, working to promote the things that make York County such a desirable place to live.
I serve on the York County Planning Commission as Vice Chair and District 1 Representative. I am also a citizen participant on the York County 2040 Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. In these positions I have learned much about what does, and doesn’t, work well for the citizens of York County, and the retirement of our current Supervisor has prompted me to run for office.
I was a member of Preserve Fenton Mill, a citizen group that prevented a high-density residential development on land zoned for low-density housing.
I am a past Vice-President of the Conserve York County Foundation, a citizen action group committed to protecting York County’s rural land. And in the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club I have served on the Leadership Team, as Club President, and am currently on the Board of Directors.
We need to stimulate immediate and long-range economic growth here in ways that respect our natural spaces and foster our high quality of life. We need Supervisors with vision, who really listen, and who know how to build consensus. As a retired ExxonMobil executive with 39 years of experience in international business and venture capital project management, I have those skills. That is why I’m running for Supervisor.
